A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd.
The oldest and largest privately owned shipyard in Nova Scotia is located in the Acadian community of Clare.
A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd was founded in 1938 by Augustin (Gus) Theriault and his wife Elizabeth, who had a few employees and a small mill. They cut their own wood, hauled it to the yard and virtually built the entire boat themselves. As the business grew, facilities were continually updated and adapted to the trends and changes in the boat-building industry.

For over 80 years, A. F. Theriault & Son Ltd. has been building, repairing, and refitting vessels to the very highest standards of quality and workmanship. This family-owned Atlantic Canada shipyard was founded in 1938 by Augustin Theriault when wooden 3-masted sailing ships still plied the seas.
